THE HISTORY OF ECWA STAFF SCHOOL, JOS
In the wake of demand for quality education, Nigerian parents who could afford to pay for the best in education scrambled to get their children into Kent Academy, Miango, Plateau State.
This all began as a result of Sudan Interior Mission (SIM) opening the door of admission to the sons and daughters of Nigerian partners in the ministry of the Gospel. Before SIM knew it, however, all roads led to Miango seeking admission into Kent Academy. Nigerians had found a short-cut for sending children abroad for education. That constituted a dilemma for SIM missionaries who were concerned about their children losing their culture.
Leadership for all ministries had been officially handed over to ECWA in September 1976. ECWA had to do something about the dilemma of admission of nationals into KA. The obvious only way out was for ECWA to open an alternative school to Kent Academy. Reverend Siman Alukeh Ibrahim who had a Graduate Certificate in Education from ABU, consulted with his SIM team members and was encouraged by the knowledge that Kent Academy would help with textbooks and missionaries in Jos would be willing to teach Music, Art, etc.
He tabled before ECWA EXECUTIVE his proposal for a STAFF SCHOOL to take some of the pressures off Kent Academy. It was tentatively agreed provided the General Church Council (GCC) could be convinced to nod consent. The GCC approved it on the condition that it would be at no additional cost to the church.
A Youth Corp Member was employed and a school fees structure that would give enough money to cover the annual salary for a Grade II teacher was established. It worked! Miss Martha Tonga was the Grade II teacher. The two were as dedicated as any missionary. They were both enthusiasts. The first class was selected and parents from the locality were very happy for the provision. The first class took off in 1977 in a Sunday school class in ECWA Bishara II. ECWA Staff School had become a reality and thus turned the Kent Academy dilemma into a blessing in disguise!
Rev. Ameachi Nwachukwu was the then Head of Education Department. He appointed Mrs. Susannah M. Ibrahim with the title of Principal. She developed the school from 1978 1984. Besides the admission of 1978 classes, Mrs. Ibrahim formalized the status of the school with government and moved the school to its permanent site. She developed the permanent site from scratch. Mr. U. Mallam assisted in procuring the Certificate of Occupancy for the permanent site. Others closely linked with the development of this school in its early formation are Rev. Ronku Aka, (one-time Assistant General Secretary of ECWA), and Kafinta Achiga of pleasant memory who did all the building and carpentry work.
History details provided by Reverend Siman Alukeh Ibrahim

We are the students of ECWA Staff School
We are one family, with one identity
We are ambassadors of the Lord Jesus
Teaching the fear of God, aiming at excellence.
CHORUS: The fear of God is knowledge
That is our motto
That is what we stand for
We have no part in the works of darkness
We walk in truth and righteousness.
ii.Through hard work and diligence, we strive for excellence
Teachers and students, there is no difference
We have one aim and goal, every day we go to school
To learn the fear of God, in school and out of school.
iii. Our strength is in the Lord, we depend on His word
To be faithful to the end, committed, devoted
We are loyal to the school, to the Church and Nigeria
Dear God, bless ECWA, God bless Nigeria.
